BTC Price

Bitcoin's own USD price history, alongside the standard set of price-derived technical indicators (RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands) computed on demand from it - included for descriptive context, not as a timing signal.

BTC Price

What it measures

Bitcoin's daily USD price, sourced from the same Coin Metrics series (onchain_metrics.price_usd) used throughout this project's longer-history charts, alongside RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands computed fresh from BTC's own OHLC data.

Formula

Price is a direct market quote, not derived. RSI/MACD/Bollinger Bands use their standard technical-analysis formulas, computed on demand rather than stored.

Normal range

Not applicable - price has no normal range of its own; the technical indicators shown alongside it (RSI 0-100, MACD relative to its own signal line, Bollinger Bands relative to their own moving average) are each read against their own conventional ranges.

How it fails

Technical indicators computed purely from price describe past price action, not future price action - none of RSI, MACD, or Bollinger Bands predict direction, and treating any single crossing or level as a standalone timing signal has a long history of failing precisely when it matters most.
